About the bill:
This bill changes a part of the Constitution of Virginia about marriage so that couples of all genders and sexualities can get married in Virginia
Constitution: a set of rules
The change includes taking a part out that says only a marriage between a man and a woman can count as marriage.
And, a part is added that makes it clear that marriage is a basic right that is a part of letting people be as happy as they can be
If this bill passes, the state of Virginia cannot stop people from getting married because of their sex, gender, or race.
The bill also stops the state from making types of legal partnerships other than marriage.
This bill says it’s okay for religious groups and people working for them to refuse to marry anyone.
