Bill:
HJ 67
About the bill:
This bill is going to make a special group called a "joint committee."
This group will have people from the House of Delegates and the Senate. They will work together to figure out how to make Virginia schools better.
The joint committee will have a smaller group called a "work group" to help them.
The work group will have people from different places, like the State Board of Education, teachers, parents, and even people who study how schools work.
The work group will do some important things:
They will hire experts to figure out how much money schools really need to help all students learn.
They will talk to people who know a lot about how schools work in other states and learn from them.
They will use the ideas from JLARC and talk to people who work in schools to make a plan for how to make schools better.
The work group will tell the joint committee what they've learned and what they think Virginia lawmakers should do. The joint committee will then tell the Governor and the people who decide how much money the state has what they think the state should do.
The joint committee will meet for a while to talk about all of this. They will make sure that everyone has a chance to share their ideas and that the state makes a plan that will help all students in Virginia learn.
