Bill:
S 41
About the bill:
This bill makes changes to an old bill.
The old bill made rules about reproductive health education.
Reproductive health education means how we teach people about sex, where babies come from, birth, pregnancy, and diseases people can get from having sex.
The old bill said that reproductive health education should tell people to practice abstinence.
Abstinence means a person does not have sex with someone until after they get married to that person.
The new bill says that reproductive health education can teach people about abstinence, but that people also have to learn about other options.
Other options are things like using protection during sex. Protection can mean things like condoms, dental dams, and birth control.
The new bill says that students have to learn about domestic violence.
Domestic violence is when someone in a relationship abuses their partner.
The new bill says that students have to learn about pregnancy prevention.
Pregnancy prevention means learning about ways to have sex that will not get someone pregnant.
If this bill passes, people have to start following it as soon as the Governor approves it.
