Bill:
SB 40
About the bill:
This is a bill about Medicaid providers in Florida.
If this bill passes, it changes part of Florida law to:
Make the Agency for Health Care Administration include specified rules in its agreements with Medicaid managed care plans.
Agency for Health Care Administration: The office in Florida’s government that is in charge of Medicaid, a state service that provides healthcare to people who don’t have a lot of money, and disabled people.
Medicaid managed care plans: A health insurance plan where people on medicaid can only go to certain doctors or clinics, and the state pays that plan a certain amount of money each month for it to cover the person’s health needs.
The new rule: At least half of the doctors in a group of doctors that work with Medicaid, must offer appointments to people with Medicaid outside of regular business hours.
Defines the term “outside of regular business hours”: Monday through Friday between 5 p.m. and 8 a.m. and all day Saturday and Sunday.
