About the bill:
This is a bill about pay for people who provide health services for people through Medicaid in Florida
Medicaid: Health insurance from the state government for people who do not have money for doctor and hospital visits, or medicine. It’s especially important for disabled people who might need medical care that costs more money.
If this bill passes:
The Agency for Health Care Administration needs to pay healthcare providers who are licensed for things that are NOT nursing the same or a higher amount as providers who do not have a license under Medicaid’s long-term managed care program.
Agency for Health Care Administration: The office in Florida’s government that is in charge of Medicaid, a state service that provides healthcare to people who don’t have a lot of money, and disabled people.
License: A special certificate that says someone can do something specific after studying to learn how to do it, and taking a test to show their skill.
Long-term Managed Care program: a healthcare plan through Medicaid that organizes and pays for ongoing support for chronically ill and disabled people.
The agency must update the amounts for providers with licenses every year.
The agency has to ask for any needed paperwork within 30 days to start these changes.
Starting January 1, 2027, the agency will pay providers with licenses, amounts that are equal to or higher than those for unlicensed providers, such as family caregivers
These changes start once the bill becomes law.
