Increase Funding for Mobile Crisis Units

About the bill:

  • If this bill passes, the North Carolina government will pay for mobile crisis units, which are special teams of people who work in mental health who travel to help people having mental health emergencies.

  • The money to pay for the mobile crisis units will come from North Carolina’s General Fund, which is like the state’s bank account. The money will go from the General Fund to the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.

  • There will be $2,000,000 available for each year from 2025-2027.

  • The goal is to set up five new mobile crisis units to get services to the areas that need it the most.

  • If this bill passes, these changes start July 1, 2025.
