Alabama
Bill:
HB 24
About the bill:
Right now, public school students in Alabama can get out of having to get medical shots and tests for religious or medical reasons.
Right now, Alabama law doesn't set any rules about medical shots or tests for students at public colleges or universities.
If this bill passes:
A parent or guardian's written letter is enough to get their child out of needing to get medical shots in order to go to school, for religious reasons.
If a public college or university in Alabama makes students have medical shots or tests to go to school there, students don’t have to do it if they have medical or religious reasons.
So, the bill would make public colleges and universities let students choose not to get medical shots or tests to go to school there.
It would change part of Alabama’s set of laws to say these things.
