Educator Certifications and Training

This bill updates certifications and training programs for teachers in Florida. 

• Certifications: special paperwork that gives people permission to do a specific job in a specific state.

• Important changes to the law if this bill passes, are:

  • The core lessons for certain programs that get teachers ready to teach will include training on mass casualty incidents.

    • Mass casualty incidents: any event that hurts enough people that the nearby healthcare facilities, like hospitals and clinics, are overwhelmed and struggle to treat everyone who needs medical care.

• Programs at colleges, universities, and trade schools must also provide training on mass casualty incidents.

• To become a certified professional who educates other people, people working on this have to complete training on mass casualty incidents.

• People with certificates to teach part time or temporarily at colleges and universities have to complete training on mass casualty incidents.
