Bill:
HB 1036
About the bill:
Right now, people in Arkansas are not allowed to vote if:
They aren’t registered at least a month before the election.
The people who are in charge of the election do not receive the voter’s registration information update at least 4 days before an election.
If passed, this bill will change part of the Arkansas constitution about registering to vote.
Constitution: a list of rules everyone must follow
People will have more time to register to vote and update their registration.
This bill makes it so people voting in person can register to vote during early voting and Election Day.
It will also make it easier for people who have just moved to vote:
Instead of having to update your address within 30 days, this bill would make it so you just have to update it by the registration deadline.
This bill also provides clearer directions for poll workers to better support voters and make sure all voter information is organized.
Poll workers: people who help voters at the voting place
